When the chalk mine in Wapnica was closed in the 1950s, nature decided to make the most beautiful renovation here. The flooded excavation transformed into a lake with a turquoise color – thanks to calcium carbonate, which dissolves in water like sugar in tea. The hill is surrounded by beeches forming a green crown. Today it is a paradise for photographers! Around the lake wind paths where in autumn you will find more mushrooms than people.
